Staff friendy. Food excellent. Very clean with nice touches.
Restaraunt very cold (we were sat next to the door). Although not a problem for us, steep concrete steps to the rooms. Our room Jake although very quaint and quirky sloping beamed roof and not really suitable for tall people.
Food and decor in room added touches I.e fruit in bowl
Sloping ceiling in bedroom
Fabulous welcome, friendly staff, well appointed room with fresh ground coffee and milk and fresh fruit, a real unexpected surprise at this level! In addition the food was fabulous, I enjoyed Pork belly with an excellent Merlot, the owner Mark offered me a taste of 4 wines and 2 beers and my stay was concluded with a fantastic eggs benadict.
My room was above the main bar and there was some noise transferred, however this stopped at 11pm and I then enjoyed a very peacfull nights sleep.
I have stayed here a few times now and every time has been an absolute pleasure. The rooms are always very well presented including some nice special touches such as fresh milk in a mini fridge, caffitier coffee, a nice selection of tea, hand cream and other little touches not found in many luxury hotels. If you're eating as well as sleeping this place is a must, the menu is wonderful and the food is as good as any top notch table, highly recommend dining whilst you are here. A friendly welcome awaits any guest and I'll continue to stay here whilst on business in the area for all the reasons stated above.
Very cosy friendly welcoming. Laura and mark show a great sense of knowledge of the little extras that made your stay feel special. Great food, good choice of beer and cider super coffee and great fresh local products for breakfast. Very restful and character filled place to stay.
A couple of the rooms are a bit on the cosy side, and there is no secondary glazing so some traffic noise in front rooms.
Very friendly and efficient contact before our stay for our questions. Nice touches in room - fresh fruit, milk in fridge. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff.
Price of a 250ml glass of Merlot!
We stayed there one night only and were very pleased with the friendliness of the staff and the food was of exellent quality well presented and very good value for money. We will be using yhis Hotel again when trvelling in that area.
The location - countryside yet not far from Bradford on Avon and Bath. Good food, friendly.
Breakfast, which was not very hot, and service was slow. When we arrived only one room was registered as booked, although we had received by email confirmation of the two rooms.
Small and compact but well fitted out. The first time I have seen a special fridge in a room with fresh milk provided for the tea and coffee - brilliant. Excellent breakfast.
Friendly informality but not intrusive staff. Our room was "jake". Lovely interior design but a bit cramped for anyone (me) 6ft tall. Wonderful breakfast menu, really good quality. My wife had traditional english and I had Kipper for our main. Great coffee too. Very novel use of lamps and styles in the breakfast/bar area. A brief but enjoyable stay. We had no problem with th cat. He let us stay!
No complaint but se comment above ref ceiling height in " Jake"
Staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient Restaurant is excellent and was the highlight of the weekend
Water supply to shower was unreliable
The character of The Tollgate, the friendliness of the staff and excellent food. Our room was accessed from steps outside, it was beautifully decorated and equipped. Nice touch with a bowl of fresh fruit! and I would describe it as quirky!! We were made very welcome, had a most enjoyable leisurely evening meal followed by a very good breakfast the following morning.
The bathroom was cramped but we did appreciate that in a very old building it is difficult to incorporate spacious ensuite facilities.
The ambience and good choice of wines and excellent food!
That we were unable to stay longer!
As a frequent business traveller I often find myself in the usual sterile chain type hotel, finding this gem of a hotel was a real treat. Firstly the staff are so welcoming and courteous and was shown to my room personally, nothing was too much trouble for the young lady who greeted me. The "Samantha" room was wonderfully comfortable with such a luxury quality feel, not just the decor and styling but beautiful presented. Personal touches such as chilled fresh milk, fruit, and coffee all welcomed me. Dining too was a pleasure with a wonderful menu and wine list at a quality usually found at much more expensive restaurants. Suffice to say breakfast too was just as well prepared and presented It was a pleasure to stay there and an experience I will treat myself to again soon.
The Inn has a lovely atmosphere and i would recommend all my friends to stay. I loved the names of the rooms and the decoration of he bedrooms was cosy yet elegant. Food excellent
There was nothing I did not like about the Inn.
